Facial Nerve Graft Surgery

On the 6th of March Ravi had the second of three planned operations to help his facial Palsy at the Queen Victoria Hospital. It involved taking a nerve graft from his leg and moving it into his upper lip. If successful, it will encourage new nerve growth and help bring movement back to the left side of Ravi’s mouth when he smiles. In this operation, one of his bite nerves was also repurposed to help move the upper lip. It will be 3-6 months before we start to see results, but the surgery itself was a great success.
