Eye surgery

Ravi had the first of three operations on his face this week. His brain tumour has caused facial palsy on the left side of his face. One of the main challenges has been that his left eye doesn’t close properly and has reduced sensation so Ravi doesn’t really blink when he gets grit or dryness in that eye. Not long after his brain surgery, this has led to him developing a really bad ulcer on the surface of his eye which took many months to heal!

This latest operation put weights into Ravi’s eye lid to help it shut better. It also reshaped his eyelid a bit and plugged his tear duct so his eye would be more moist.

Pleased to say it worked really well!
